Cape Town City have been able to bolster their defence with the return of DR Congo international centre-back Nathan Fasika.
The 25-year-old had been on loan at Norwegian side Vaalarenga but has returned to the Mother City upon the expiry of that arrangement having helped the club to promotion back to the Eliteserien following a shock relegation in 2023.
His game-time was limited though with one start and seven substitute appearances, having been on the bench for 28 of their 30 league fixtures.
City also loaned Cameroon midfielder Brice Ambina at the same time and he was much more influential, featuring in 28 of the clubs 30 games. He has been retained for the 2025 season.
Fasika joined City ahead of the 2021/22 season and made an immediate impression with some outstanding displays.
He suffered a serious knee injury early in the 2022/23 campaign that kept him out of the game for 18 months.
He might take some time to get back up to speed, his last game for Vaalarenga was in mid-November.
