Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso says his side will go into their mouthwatering clash against Mamelodi Sundowns with a positive mindset.
The two sides have already met once in the Absa Premiership this season when they played to a 1-1 draw in their league opener at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
Calling on the backing of the club’s supporters, Cardoso insists that Amakhosi are confident heading into the encounter at the FNB Stadium, having already won three games under the guidance of Ernst Middendorp.
‘We have won three games since Ernst Middendorp took over as the head coach,’ Cardoso told his club’s official website.
‘Those wins have given our supporters confidence and a positive holiday season. I urge our supporters to be our 12th man against Sundowns. They are the ones that give us our drive.’
The lanky defender admits he expects the clash to be tough one, but he says there is a lot of interest in the outcome of the match.
‘After the Soweto Derby, this match has become one of the biggest games of the season,’ he added. ‘It will be tough. We will both be coming back from a break, so it will be interesting to see who reacts best to that.
‘Middendorp has brought in a lot of positive energy. He motivates us to give it our all. That’s also why we feel positive about the Sundowns match. We will be ready.’
Kaizer Chiefs are set to welcome Mamelodi Sundowns in the Absa Premiership when the two sides square off at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 3:30pm.
