The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has announced that Kaizer Chiefs’ appeal against their transfer ban handed out by Fifa will be heard on 9 September 2020.

Chiefs were handed a two-window transfer ban by the world football governing body after an appeal by Madagascan side Fosa Juniors, following the signing of Andriamirado Aro Hasina Andrianamimanana by the Glamour Boys.

Fosa Juniors claimed Dax had a contract ‘valid from date of signature [1 November 2016] until 31 October 2020’ and lodged a dispute with Fifa, seeking compensation to the sum of ‘EUR 150,000 plus 5% interest’, and the ruling later went against Amakhosi, who were ordered to pay and sanctioned to a two-window transfer ban.

Chiefs then subsequently appealed to the CAS to attempt to overturn the ruling but any judgments were stalled by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

CAS, though, has now confirmed that it will hear Chiefs’ appeal on 9 September, with the Soweto giants hoping to be able to resume their transfer business in the window directly following the ruling.
