Kaizer Chiefs striker Leonardo Castro is hoping his side can collect all three points against Mamelodi Sundowns and maintain top spot in the Absa Premiership standings.
Amakhosi and Sundowns will renew their rivalry in the PSL when they battle it out for first place at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.
The two sides have already met once this campaign in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup, with Amakhosi claiming bragging rights following their 4-2 victory over Sundowns at the FNB Stadium.
‘For me it is an important game. It is as important as all the other games that I have played so far this campaign. We are top of the table and we need to continue working hard. To maintain that spot, we need a good result on Sunday,’ Castro told his club’s official website.
The Colombian feels that scoring a hat-trick in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup against Sundowns has given him the confidence to up his game against his former team.
‘It was a friendly game but as a striker it is good to score goals. This helps bring your confidence levels up. I feel at this moment the whole team is playing with a high level of confidence because we know where we want to reach. We are moving in the right way,’ he added.
‘For us this game against Sundowns is crucial but we take it step by step knowing every game poses a different challenge. Every point is vital for us and that’s how we will approach it. Looking to get the maximum out of the game.’
The match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium kicks off at 3:30pm.
