Colombian striker Leonardo Castro started training with Kaizer Chiefs following his move from Mamelodi Sundowns during the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old managed to score 14 goals during his first season at Chloorkop and won the Absa Premiership title, the Caf Champions League, Telkom Knockout Cup and Caf Super Cup.
Castro says he is looking forward to repaying Amakhosi for the faith the club has shown in him.
‘This is a big day for me. I am happy to join a big team like Kaizer Chiefs,’ Castro told his club’s official website.
‘I appreciate the opportunity to play for Chiefs and I will make sure to repay the confidence and trust the club has shown in me.’
The Colombian striker says that he would like to contribute to the Amakhosi’s future success while also helping them secure their place in the Caf Champions League.
‘Big teams like Chiefs need to win trophies and participate in international tournaments like the African Champions League,’ he added.
‘The club is very professionally run and I want to bring my goals to help the team succeed. I want to help Chiefs win championships.’
Amakhosi has also secured the services of midfielders Siphelele Ntshangase and Kabelo Mahlasela, while promoting young left-back Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya to the first team.
Chiefs will next welcome Polokwane City to the FNB Stadium when the two sides meet in a league match on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 20:15.
