Kaizer Chiefs striker Leonardo Castro says he did not touch the ball leading up to Samir Nurkovic’s goal against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The contest’s biggest talking point was Amakhosi’s opening goal after Nurkovic’s first goal appeared to have been scored from an offside position off a Leonardo Castro assist.

However, the match official felt Mosa Lebusa took a slight touch while contesting with Castro for the ball, playing Nurkovic onside.

‘The win against my previous club was good for us but it is in the past. We are now focusing on preparing for the derby,’ Castro told the media.

‘I didn’t touch the ball. If I touched it, it was gonna go straight into the goal. It was gonna be my goal. Nurkovic was onside.

The Colombian striker added that he has built up a great partnership with teammate Khama Billiat, whom he played with at Sundowns before they both joined Amakhosi.

‘Me and Khama [Billiat] have known each other for a while now. We can close our eyes and we still play well together.’

Kaizer Chiefs will now focus on their upcoming Soweto derby clash with Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout Cup quarter-finals at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 3pm.
