Kaizer Chiefs striker Leonardo Castro insists they had enough experience to overcome an in-form Highlands Park outfit at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
The Colombia striker bagged a brace to inspire Amakhosi to a 3-0 victory over the Lions of the North, moving six points clear at the summit of the Absa Premiership standings.
Castro says they will continue to work hard to grind out positive results.
‘Today the team showed character, we were scoring goals tonight. We’re happy because the supporters came in numbers to see our team,’ Castro told SuperSport TV post-game.
‘We all know what it means 50 years for Kaizer Chiefs in the history of South African soccer.
‘I think we’ve got experienced players in the team to manage this kind of pressure. We showed today that we play good football and we’re happy.
‘We all know and we all want to finish in a good shape, we all want to be a champ so we’re working hard, we all know, so step by step we’ll get it.’
Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to continue their current form when they welcome Cape Town City to the FNB Stadium on Sunday, with kick-off set for 3:30pm.
