Bloemfontein Celtic have officially unveiled Serbian coach Veselin Jelusic as the club’s new head coach after signing a two-year contract.

The experienced mentor has a vast knowledge of the game and brings a Uefa A coaching Licence and PhD in Physical Education (football subject) from the University Of Belgrade.

The manager might be unknown to local fans but he comes with international status after coaching teams like Interclube in Angola where he won Super-Cup of Angola 2001.

Veselin was also in charge of the Botswana National Team from 2002 till 2006, helping the Zebras to move up to 40th in the Fifa World rankings.

Celtic’s CEO Khumbulani Konco says he won’t put any ‘unnecessary pressure’ on Veselin as they look to rebuild the team after finishing 12th in the Absa Premiership last season.

‘We are honoured to have such a vastly experienced coach in our midst. Looking at how we performed last season, we are now solely focused on rebuilding the team,’ Konco told his club’s official website.

‘We are intending to give Coach Veselin sufficient time to assess and subsequently advise on where we need to beef up the squad during this pre-season.

‘As much as positive results are important, we won’t be putting unnecessary pressure on our new man.’

Achieving those positives might come with great difficulty as the manager hasn’t got a very impressive win record as an international coach but has achieved great club success.

‘He has worked with both youth and experienced players in the countries where he has coached and that will help us a lot.’

‘Luckily he has done research about the rich history of the team and he knows that the supporters are an integral part of the team.

‘We welcome him and promise to give him all the necessary support so that we can all to achieve our goals,’ Konco concluded.
