Mamelodi Sundowns star Khama Billiat has attracted interest from Polish giants Legia Warsaw following a brilliant season in the PSL, according to reports.
The playmaker reportedly attracted interest from Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the recently concluded transfer window. It is believed the North African side offered a figure in the region of R17.8-million for the star but with Sundowns asking for a fee nearer the R37.2-million mark, no deal was forthcoming.
Warsaw, meanwhile, are believed to have been monitoring the player and would certainly be an attractive destination given their participation in this season’s Champions League.
In the meantime, Billiat had two years remaining on his Chloorkop contract and unless Warsaw meet the side’s asking price come January, it seems unlikely the side will be willing to part ways with their star player.
Billiat netted the crucial away goal for Sundowns as they were defeated 2-1 by Zesco United in the first-leg of their Caf Champions League semi-final but with Sundowns set to play the second leg of the tie at home, there remains hope of a turnaround.
Billiat will also lead the line for the side in the second-leg of their MTN8 semi-final against Chippa United on Wednesday.
The tie will resume at 0-0 with the action set to get underway at 19:30 from the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
