Kaizer Chiefs defender Kgotso Moleko admits that it’s always a special feeling’ to play against former team Bloemfontein Celtic, ahead of the two sides’ league clash on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old defender has been used sparingly by Steve Komphela this season – having made seven appearances in all competitions, largely due to the presence of Ramahlwe Mphahlele, who has established himself as the team’s first-choice right-back.
Moleko, who was handed a rare starting-berth in the Soweto giants’ 2-1 victory against minnows Acornbush in the Nedbank Cup, says he is looking forward to facing his former team if given the chance.
‘It’s always a special feeling to play Celtic,’ he told Kaizer Chiefs’ website.
‘It’s always good to get an opportunity to play.’
Moleko also revealed that he has grown in leaps and bounds since the arrival of Mphahlele and admits that the former Mamelodi Sundowns captain has taught him a lot since his arrival in June 2016.
‘It’s a healthy competition for the right-back slot.’
‘We talk a lot with each other. Even during half-time of the game against Acornbush, ‘Rama’ spoke with me, giving me some advice. He told me to sometimes make a run more straight towards the box.
‘Celtic have a good team. However, we are in a good space at the moment. We want to take it,’ he added.
The two teams face off at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium on Wednesday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30.
