Large numbers of Kaizer Chiefs fans were seen forcing their way into the Cape Town Stadium, but fortunately, there were no casualties or any serious damages done to the stadium.
A brace by Khama Billiat and goals by Siyabonga Ngezana and Philani Zulu thrashed Benni McCarthy’s side in the Mother City, however, the result was somewhat marred by events that transpired prior to the kick-off of the clash.

Chiefs fans were seen forcing entry to the clash, ironically a few days after the Premier Soccer League announced a partnership with the South African Police Services.
‘The Cape Town Stadium is aware of the incident that occurred on Saturday, 15 September 2018 during the soccer match between Cape Town City FC and Kaizer Chiefs FC,’ Cape Town Stadium CEO Lesley de Reuck told Goal.
‘It was reported that a group of fans managed to forcefully gain entry into the stadium via the turnstile area. This occurred just after the match resumed after half-time. The incident was immediately contained,’ he concluded.
The Soweto giants are already in hot water with the league after being ordered to play three matches behind closed doors by the PSL due to to the fan violence that erupted at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Angry Amakhosi fans resorted to hooliganism at the full-time whistle of Chiefs’ 2-0 loss to Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals in April, which proved to be the last game in charge for coach Steve Komphela.
