Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has returned to full training ahead of their Telkom Knockout Cup semi-final clash against Maritzburg United on Sunday.

The Soweto giants will be hoping to continue their winning form and book their place in the finals of the knockout tournament when they travel to the Mbombela Stadium this weekend.

With Daniel Akepyi ruled out through suspension, Khune faces stiff competitions for a place in the starting lineup from the likes of Bruce Bvuma and Brylon Petersen respectively.

The Glamour Boys released the following statement on the players, which reads:

According to the medical report, with the exception of Joseph Molangoane, the rest of the squad is looking good. Molangoane successfully removed some of the screws from the surgery he underwent for his leg injury.

Returning from injuries

Itumeleng Khune

Ahead of their trip to Nelspruit for the Telkom Knockout Cup on the weekend, Itumeleng Khune is medically fit and has joined the team in full training. Khune has been recovering from a groin injury he picked up in the game against Baroka FC in September.

It is a matter of time before we see Nkosingiphile Ngcobo back in contention for his places in the team. The youngster has made a steady progress through the Reserves league matches, playing ninety minutes in the Multichoice Diski Challenge Soweto Derby last Saturday. Ngcobo ruptured Achilles Tendon in March in a game against SuperSport United.

International players, Khama Billiat, Lazalous Kambole, Daniel Akpeyi, Mulomowandau Mathoho and Lebogang Manyama all returned to the Club after participating in the Afcon qualifiers during the Fifa International Break.
