Kaizer Chiefs marketing manager Jessica Motaung says the club have postponed bringing international teams to South African due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Glamour Boys have previously brought top European teams to South Africa, including the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

All football in the country and the rest of the world have since been suspended/or postponed due to the pandemic.

Motaung has since confirmed that discussions with international teams to visit South Africa have been put on hold until the current crisis in the world has been averted.

‘We have to be responsible. As much as it is our 50th anniversary we’d like to celebrate 50 more years. So, it’s important we understand that all plans have to be put on hold until things are normalised,’ Motaung told the media.

‘We have been in discussions with international teams to come and play us, even legends’ teams, and we have had to put it on hold.’

Amakhosi were due to face fellow title-contenders Bidvest Wits in a mouth-watering encounter at the FNB Stadium before the postponement of the Absa Premiership.

Ernst Middendorp’s men currently occupy top spot in the league standings with 48 points from 22 games, four points above second placed Mamelodi Sundowns, who have a game in hand over the log leaders.
