Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango has admitted that being 10 points behind log leaders Kaizer Chiefs has created pressure on the Downs camp.
Downs are searching for their third consecutive Absa Premiership and their 10th league title in the PSL era but have faced stern competition from Amakhosi this season.
Downs though received a massive boost with their Telkom Knockout triumph last season and Onyango has admitted that lifting the trophy has taken a bit of pressure off the team.
‘Yeah it’s another trophy, it takes a little bit of pressure off us because we’ve been under pressure the entire season,’ said Onyango.
‘Being behind in the league by 10 points and of course chasing the CAF Champions League, being knocked out of the MTN8 semifinals, so yeah at least we have something now.
‘Now we can focus on the league and the Champions League.’
Sundowns are next in action against Polokwane City at Loftus Stadium on Saturday (18h00) and then they travel to Algeria for a clash against USM Alger on 28 December.
