Kaizer Chiefs confirmed that the club have parted ways with striker Bhongolethu Jayiya with immediate effect after he spent just two seasons at the Soweto giants.

The 29-year-old has managed just six appearances across all competitions this season, and does not seem to be part of Ernst Middendorp’s plans for the next season.

Jayiya, who joined Amakhosi from Cape Town City on a three-year deal back in 2017, will be eligible to join a new clubs on a free transfer from 1 July 2019.

The former Bidvest Wits attacker has now become the fifth player to leave the club after the departures of Hendrick Ekstein, Gustavo Paez, Virgil Vries and Kgotso Malope.

The club released the following statement on the departure of Jayiya:

‘As the journey to prepare for the upcoming season continues, Kaizer Chiefs and Bhongolethu Jayiya have agreed to a mutual cessation of their relationship after two seasons. The Soweto-born midfielder joined Amakhosi from Cape Town City.

‘Jayiya expressed his appreciation to the club, Mr Kaizer Motaung and football manager Bobby Motaung for the opportunity. He also gave his appreciation to the coaches he worked with, his teammates and the supporters for always being behind Amakhosi.

‘The club wishes the player all the best for the future and thanks him for his involvement with the Glamour Boys.
