Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that the club have parted ways with veteran defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele and left back Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya.

Mphahlele and Ntiya-Ntiya have become the latest players to be shown the exit doors at Naturena behind Dumisani Zuma, Daniel Akpeyi, Lebogang Manyama, Kearyn Baccus, Samir Nurković, Leonardo Castro, Lazalous Kambole, Daniel Cardoso, Anthony Akumu Agay and Bernard Parker.

However, Amakhosi wasted no time in finding replacements and acquired the services of Dillan Solomons, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, Lehlogonolo George Matlou, Ashley Du Preez, Zitha Kwinika, Siyethemba Sithebe and, most recently, Yusuf Maart.

Chiefs released the following statement on Mphahlele’s departure:

“Kaizer Chiefs have opted to not extend Ramahlwe Mphahlele’s contract when it expires at the end of the month.

“The talented defender arrived at Chiefs ahead of the 2016-17 season from Mamelodi Sundowns. His Amakhosi debut came on the opening day of the DStv Premiership season on 23 August 2016 against Wits. He played a total of 127 official matches in his six seasons with the Glamour Boys, working with different coaches.

“His leadership on and off the pitch saw him wear the captain’s armband a number of times for Amakhosi.

“We thank ‘Rama’ for his hard work and wish him all the best in the future.”

Meanwhile, Amakhosi also confirmed the release of Ntiya-Ntiya in another statement:

“Kaizer Chiefs and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya have come to a decision to part ways.

“The defender joined Chiefs’ development ranks before being promoted to the senior team in January 2018. He made his DStv Premiership debut on 6 January 2018 against SuperSport United in Mbombela.

“He played a total of 54 matches for the senior team in Gold & Black colours.

“He was part of the Chiefs team that went to two finals, the Nedbank Cup in 2019 and the CAF Champions League last year.

“The 25-year-old Ntiya-Ntiya has been given his clearance and will be able to join a team of his choice.

“Our well wishes to Siphosakhe for the future.”
