Kaizer Chiefs are looking at the possibility of bringing in Bafana Bafana midfielder and former Orlando Pirates youth product Yusuf Maart as early as January, according to reports.
According to SoccerLaduma, Amakhosi have identified Maart as a possible transfer target after his impressive form with Sekhukhune United and the national team.
Maart left Pirates in 2017 after struggling to break into the first team following his promotion from the club’s development structures and has been rebuilding his career at Sekhukhune before getting a chance to shine with Bafana.
The 26-year-old has a contract with Babina Noko until June 2023, but this has not stopped the Glamour Boys from reportedly showing interest in the midfielder.
“There is an interest from Kaizer Chiefs in Sekhukhune United’s Yusuf Maart and the player is being monitored by Chiefs. Yusuf could move to Chiefs as early as in January next year if the two clubs [Chiefs and Sekhukhune] could agree on his transfer,” a source at the club told SoccerLaduma.
If successful, a move will largely depend on the player’s fee but talks will likely intensify closer to the January transfer window, with the Soweto giants looking to strengthen their squad.
