Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Kearyn Baccus admits that while his side will miss the presence of their fans, he is happy that Chiefs will play their remaining fixtures at the Orlando Stadium, home of arch-rivals Orlando Pirates.

The 2019-20 season will finally resume on 8 August following the disruptions caused by coronavirus.

As part of the restart plan each team will have to enter a Gauteng bio-bubble after having drawn a new ‘home stadium’ for their remaining games.

Amakhosi drew the historic Orlando Stadium and will be itching to get back to action as they aim to clinch the league title.

Chiefs sit four points clear at the top, but second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns do have a game in hand and the title race promises to go down to the wire.

Baccus admits that while his side will miss the fans, they are happy to be playing on the nice pitch at the home of Pirates.

‘We will obviously miss our fans,’ he said. ‘But it’s a nice stadium and the pitch is very good. I am happy with the outcome of the draw to play at Orlando Stadium.

‘Now it’s important that we all focus, be mentally strong and play as a team in those eight remaining fixtures.’

Amakhosi will resume the campaign against Bidvest Wits on Wednesday, 12 August.
