Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat revealed that he is grateful for the love shown by coach Giovanni Solinas and that the feeling is mutual, writes DEAN WORKMAN.

The Italian coach has waxed lyrical over the Zimbabwean on a number of occasions this season. Solinas, who took charge in August, has hailed Billiat as the best player in the Absa Premiership while also insisting he should be playing in Europe.

Billiat has also been instrumental in Chiefs’ revival following their disappointing start to the season.

The Glamour Boys were winless after six games but a run of three wins on the trot in September catapulted the Soweto giants up the league table.

Solinas was awarded the Manager of the Month award for this form, while Biliiat, who scored two goals and grabbed two assists, won the Player of the Month award.

Speaking at the awards press conference, Billiat admitted that he is enjoying working under Solinas, after he was asked about how it feels to have his coach constantly praise his ability.

‘I’m grateful to have a coach like him but most importantly it is about the team.

‘We all know him, and he is always like that in training. I don’t see it as something special he is always like that.

‘I am grateful for the love that he has for me and I love him too, just like everyone else.

‘I love the relationship that I have with him,’ concluded Billiat.
