Despite having a stellar 2019/20 season with Kaizer Chiefs so far, striker Leonardo Castro could decide to turn down the club’s new contract offer and leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
It looked as though the Colombian striker was destined for the exit door at Naturena at the beginning of the current campaign after he endured a poor 20018/19 season where he struggled for game time and form.
The forward, however, impressed boss Ernst Middendorp during pre-season and has forced his way into the starting line up at the Glamour Boys.
Middendorp admitted that the club wanted to offload Castro before this season before changing their minds and it now looks as if that initial decision left the player considering his options.

Speaking to Goal.com, an anonymous official at Chiefs revealed that the clubs is keen to keep Castro beyond the expiry of his deal in June but the forward is reluctant to sign the extension.
‘The offer is there for Castro but he’s reluctant to sign because the club nearly offloaded him last season,’ the official told Goal.
‘He feels he would still not be safe even if he signs a new contract because of what happened at the start of the campaign.’
‘But the club is hopeful he will stay and we will see how the negotiations go,’ concluded the official.
