Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that they will play their next home Absa Premiership match against Polokwane City behind closed doors.

The Glamour Boys were ordered to play at least two home games behind closed doors as a result of the order imposed by the PSL Disciplinary Committee.

This followed the events that happened during their Nedbank Cup clash against Free State Stars at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on 21 April when fans invaded the pitch while causing damage to property.

Amakhosi were found guilty and ordered to play three PSL games with any spectators, however the playing of one game behind closed doors will be suspended for a period of 24 months, provided that Chiefs are not found guilty of a similar offences in the future.

According to rule 24.3 of the Rules of the League, ‘An appeal against an order of the Disciplinary Committee or the Dispute Resolution Chamber will not suspend the operation of that order pending the finalisation of any appeal or arbitration in respect of that order.’

The Soweto giants released the following statement on the matter: ‘Therefore, despite the club’s abovementioned appeal, the order of the Disciplinary Committee in this matter remains in operation pending the outcome of the appeal or any arbitration process that may follow the appeal.

‘Supporters need to take note that there will be no tickets sold for the match. The game is scheduled to be broadcast live on SuperSport 4.

‘Kaizer Chiefs would like to thank the supporters and fans who had already purchased tickets for this match. We are in the process of making arrangements for refunds.’

Kaizer Chiefs will next take on Highlands Park when the two sides meet at the Makhulong Stadium on Tuesday with kick off set for 7:30pm.
