SuperSport United are still in search for their first victory following a 0-0 goalless draw with Chippa United while Golden Arrows clinched a 2-0 win over Cape Town City in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.

Matsatsantsa had the most of the possession in the opening exchanges of the match, but neither side could create any clear-cut opportunities at goal.

While Dan Malesela was not happy with the way the team was performing and he opted by making a double change by bringing in Menzi Masuku and Lerato Manzini in place of Buyani Sali and David Zulu in the 36th minute.

Both Matsatsantsa and the Chilli Boys struggled to create any opportunities as the first half went on, while SuperSport were restricted to efforts from distance, with none of the attempts troubled Chippa goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi.

The score remained goalless heading into the half-time interval as neither club registered a single effort on target in the opening 45 minutes of the match.

Nigerian shot-stopper Akpeyi came to Chippa’s rescue in the 57th minute after the Chippa shot-stopper produced a fine save to keep out Jeremy Brockie’s header to keep the scores level.

With SuperSport still searching for an opener, Matsatsantsa coach Stuart Baxter introduced Dove Wome replacing Kingston Nkhatha in the 64th minute of the match.

Chances were hard to come by in the final 20 minutes of the match although Brockie missed a great opportunity to give his side the lead in stoppage time as the score remained goalless at the full-time whistle

Meanwhile, Golden Arrows recorded their first Absa Premiership victory of the season after defeating Cape Town City 2-0 at Princess Magogo Stadium.

Abafana Bes’thende scored late in each half through Vuyani Ntanga and Wayde Jooste to put their opening defeat against Orlando Pirates behind them.
