Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has revealed that the club have shown faith in veteran midfielder Mpho Makola by extending his contract with the Citizens.
The 34-year-old old joined on a one-year deal in July last year, with the option to extend his stay for a further season at the Cape Town-based outfit.
The former Orlando Pirates midfielder was seen as a direct replacement for PSL great Teko Modise, who retired from professional football at the end of the 2018-19 season.
However, Comitis has since confirmed that Makola has been rewarded with a contract extension following his showing for the Citizens this season.
‘Mpho is very much in the plans [of the club],’ Comitis was quoted on IOL.
‘He has done consistently well for us and we are waiting to see when we will resume action. We are not in a hurry, we will take it slowly.’
Over the course of his career, Makola has scored 29 goals and assisted a further 44 from 269 appearances across all competitions playing for the likes of Free State Stars, Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City.
