Cape Town City have confirmed that former Galatasary and Ajax Amsterdam coach Jan Olde Riekerink has joined the club as Benni McCarthy’s replacement.
City announced the departure of the former Bafana Bafana striker on Monday after a run of just two wins in eighteen games over the back end of last season and the start of the current campaign.
The Dutch coach joins the Citizens with an impressive CV in Europe after managing the likes of Ajax, Gent, Galatasary and SV Heerveen, backed up by assistant roles at FC Porto and Metalurh Donetsk.
The coach, who also headed up Ajax’s famous youth academy from 2007-11, will be tasked with helping City regain form after a disastrous start to the campaign.
The Cape Town-based club made the announcement via their Twitter page on Wednesday afternoon.

The Citzens face Polokwane City in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday evening with Riekerink expected to watch from the stands. His first game on the touchline will likely come when they travel to face Black Leopards in the league on Sunday.
