Cape Town City attacking duo Aubrey Ngoma and Lebogang Manyama believes that the team is in a good state of mind ahead of their mammoth Absa Premiership encounter against Bidvest Wits on Wednesday, writes MARSHALL GOUTS.
The Mother City outfit sit at the summit of the table with 45 points amassed from their 23 matches thus far in the campaign, however they face fellow title-contenders Wits, who aim to derail Eric Tinkler’s sides’ title-aspirations when the two sides meet at the Cape Town Stadium.
The Citizens captain emerged as the hero the last time the two sides met when he netted a brace to condemn the Students to a 3-2 defeat at the Bidvest Stadium in their first-round clash and Manyama has acknowledged the difficulty of the task at-hand .
‘We know what we are up against,’ Manyama told the media at a press-conference on Tuesday.
‘Wits are a powerful side – but, for us, the performance has always been about the whole team – and it will be no different against Wits.
‘What’s worked for us this season is that we’ve always taken things one game at a time.
‘We have seven games remaining, but all our focus is only on the challenge of Wits, nothing else… We are as calm as ever, we will keep going as a team and we will, as always, give it our best shot,’ he said.
Ngoma echoed Manyama’s sentiments, but maintained that they will not change anything based on their opponents, instead, continue to play their normal style of play which has proved vastly successful in the league campaign this season.
‘I think for every player, it’s about consistency,’ said Ngoma.
‘We just want to carry on where we left off in the last game.
‘Yes, we know how good Wits are, but we will focus on ourselves. We know what has made us successful this season and we will continue to do so,’ Ngoma concluded.
