The 27-year-old has been a free agent since parting ways with Turkish outfit Genclerbirligi SK midway through the 2017-18 campaign – where he scored six goals in 30 appearances.

Over the course of his career, Rantie has scored 34 goals and assisted a further 18 from 147 appearances in all competitions playing for the likes of Clube Ferroviario de Beira, IFK Hassleholm, Orlando Pirates, Malmo, Bournemouth and Genclerbirligi Ankara.

On an international level, the striker racked up 40 caps for the South African national team while scoring 13 goals in the process since making his debut back in June 2012 under the guidance of then-coach Steve Komphela.

Rantie has now become the Citizen’s seventh signing following the arrivals of Kouassi Kouadja, Siphelele Mthembu, Keanu Cupido, Riyaad Norodien, Peter Leeuwengburgh and Gift Links.
