Cape Town City have confirmed the signing of former Ajax Cape Town striker Tashreeq Morris after he was released by the Urban Warriors.
The 25-year-old has now become the Citizens’ second signing behind former Ajax teammate Abbubaker Mobara after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.
The Cape Town-born striker spent the last six seasons with crosstown-rivals Ajax since gaining promotion to their senior team back in 2013, in which he racked up 108 appearances across all competitions while scoring 16 goals and assisting a further seven.
Morris is now set to go up against the likes of Kermit Erasmus and Siphelele Mthembu for a starting berth in Benni McCarthy’s squad for the upcoming season.
Cape Town City released the following statement on the signing of Morris:
‘Cape Town City is delighted to announce the signing of 25-year-old South African striker Tashreeq Morris from NFD side Ajax. Morris signed a three-year deal with the club, bolstering the strikeforce with Mthembu and Erasmus.’
