Cape Town City has officially announced the signing of midfielder Mpho Makola following his departure from Orlando Pirates.

The 33-year-old was recently released from the Soweto giants as a free agent after his contract with the club expired at the end of the 2018-19 season.

The former Free State Stars midfielder has recently been linked to a number of clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs, Highlands Park and Black Leopards, but opted to sign for the Citizens.

Makola has now become City’s fourth signing behind former Ajax Cape Town duo Abbubaker Mobara and Tashreeq Morris, and Dutch winger Bernio Verhagen.

Over the course of his career, Makola has scored 28 goals and assisted a further 43 from 249 appearances in all competitions playing for the likes of Free State Stars and Orlando Pirates.
