Cape Town City have suffered a major blow after confirming that in-form striker Kermit Erasmus will be sidelined for the next two months due to injury.

The 29-year-old was substituted in the 14th minute during the Citizens 1-1 draw with Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium and subsequently replaced by Shane Roberts after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Erasmus has been in good form for City this season and has already managed to score 10 goals and assisted a further two from 20 appearances in all competitions.

The Citizens took to Twitter to confirm the news:

‘Kermit Erasmus has suffered a suspected hamstring muscle tear and will be out of action for approximately 2 months.’

‘⁣⁣More updates to follow after the results of the scan is received.’

The Mother City-based outfit will now turn their attention to the Nedbank Cup round-of-32 clash with Mbombela United at the Kanyamazane Stadium on Sunday, which kicks off at 3pm.
