Cape Town Spurs moved one step closer to securing promotion to the DStv Premiership after they defeated Platinum City Rovers 2-0 to go top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table.
The game started out at a normal pace, but the Urban Warriors missed some good chances to score goals in the first 45 minutes.
At the half-hour mark, Morne Nel was told to leave the pitch. This was a bad sign for coach Shaun Bartlett and his technical staff. But the Urban Warriors went into the break without any damage.
Even though Spurs were down a player at halftime, they came back strong in the second half. Goals from Therlo Moosa and Asanele Velebayi gave the Urban Warriors three important points at home. With the win, Spurs moved to the top of the league table, two points ahead of second-place Polokwane City.
