AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has confirmed that the club is in the process of starting a women’s team in the near future.

The only two teams from the DStv Premiership that have a women’s team are Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy.

The two clubs currently ply their trade in the Hollywoodbets Super League.

The Usuthu president has since revealed that they are working on starting their own team in the near future.

“I think it’s a cliche now that there’s a great deal of enthusiasm for women’s sports and soccer. And we have given a commitment as AmaZulu that if we qualify for the CAF Champions League next time as it is a requirement — We will own a women’s soccer team,” Zungu told his club’s official website.

“We will allocate resources [for a women’s team], even if the likelihood of a sponsor does not materialise.

“But it is our singular commitment. We will have a women’s team. We want to get back to being a top quartile team, it must be apparent as the season progresses that these people mean business.”
