Golden Arrows are up to second place in the DStv Premiership standings following their 2-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs at the Mpumalanga Stadium on Saturday.
The game got off to a good start with both sides showing their intent early on as they go in search of the opening goal.
Arrows drew first blood and broke the deadlock through Knox Mutizwa, who capitalised on a mistake by Brandon Petersen to slot the ball into an empty net.
Amakhosi responded four minutes later when Sifiso Hlanti headed the ball home after latching on to a set-piece from Edson Castillo
to make it 1-1.
Chiefs had a chance to take the first for the first time in the 33rd minute but they failed to score as they tried to connect with a spilt ball by the Arrows keeper.
Hlanti had a chance to double his side’s lead six minutes later but saw his shot sail inches wide of goal.
Neither side could take the lead after 45 minutes as the game went into the half time break locked at 1-1.
Arrows started the second half like a house on fire after restoring their lead in the 54th minute when Mutizwa completed his brace.
The home side had a chance to extend their lead three minutes later but Petersen made a good diving save to deny Arrows.
Cavin Johnson made his first substitution in the 66th minute when Dolly was taken off and replaced by Tebogo Potsane, while Arrows made a change of their own seven minutes later when Lungelo Nguse replaced Mutizwa.
Saile had a chance to level matters in the 74th minute but saw his shot saved by Watenga before Theron ended up clearing the ball away from danger.
Arrows nearly added a third goal in the 82nd minute when van Rooi played a ball into the box to Nguse but the attacker failed to connect with the ball inside the area.
The home side held on to their narrow lead until the final whistle to walk away with the win and secure all three points.
