Richards Bay have announced the signing of defender Austin Dube following his exit from Kaizer Chiefs.

The 30-year-old joined the Soweto giants from Richards Bay in July 2021 but struggled to cement his place in the starting line up of Amakhosi.

The defender made 17 appearances in his debut season for Amakhosi during the 2021-22 season but only managed one appearance for Chiefs during the 2022-23 season.

The former TS Galaxy defender is now rumoured to be re-joining Richards Bay ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Dube has become the fifth departure at Chiefs after Eric Mathoho, Phathutshedzo Nange, Cole Alexander and Khama Billiat.

However, the defender has now completed his move to Richards bay and reunited with his former club.

“Richards Bay Football Club would like to welcome back Austin Thabani Dube,” the club announced on Twitter.

“Austin Thabani Dube is a familiar face in the Richards Bay Football Club family, he played for the Club during the 2020/2021 season. During the 2022/2023 he played for Kaizer Chiefs.

“We welcome him back home and wish him all the best.”
