New Stellenbosch FC signing Sanele Barns wants to compete for silverware on all fronts ahead of the 2024-25 season.
The 27-year-old joins the club after putting pen to paper on a long-term contract with the Maroons.
Barns brings added value to the club’s attacking department, having scored 12 goals and registered 14 assists in 76 appearances across all competitions, playing for the likes of TS Galaxy, AmaTuks and Richards Bay.
He also helped Richards Bay retain their top-flight status, making 35 appearances while recording six goals and seven assists during the 2023-24 season.
Barns is relishing the chance to get started at the club and help the club win more silverware, starting with the MTN8 competition.
“Hello, my name is Sanele Barns, Stellenbosch new signing player,” Barns told Stellenbosch FC.
“I’m feeling very excited to be here because you know Stellenbosch is a very good team, very good players, very good coach and everyone around here is very welcoming.
“I think one has to be happy to be here,” he added. “I’m also excited to start my journey at Stellenbosch FC.
“To be honest one has to look for many things because firstly you have to look if they are competitive or not and if I check and double check the team, every silverware they are competing so my decision coming here was based on that.
“I’m hoping to achieve many things here. I think first of all, we have a cup competition that is coming very soon, CAF Confederation Cup that is coming very soon so my objective is to win all this silverware and the fans they can expect a very good football, a very dedicated person, player and team player.
“Obviously I will have to con tribute to the team, i can’t wait to see you Stellies fans, let’s go Stellenbosch.”
