Cape Town Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett is relishing the chance to unleash his squad in the DStv Premiership after gaining promotion to the top-flight via the PSL playoffs.
The Urban Warriors clinched their promotion the the DStv Premiership after they secure a goalless draw against Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The result means that Spurs will advance to the top-flight while the Team of Choice have been relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship for the 2023-24 season.
Bartlett is proud of his side for achieving the main objective this past season especially after missing out on automatic promotion on the final day of the 2022-23 season.
“That was my goal, that was my aim where we really put a balance and diverse team together as far as culture, racial backgrounds and even age together,” Bartlett told SuperSport TV.
“There are like four generations in this team and those are things that make things easier for me as a leader, I don’t always have to coach on the field.
“I’m just really, really proud of these boys for achieving the goal that we set out.
“I said we were disappointed on the last day of the season, but in the end we achieved our goal and now that feeling of disappointment is really gone.
“We can now look forward to the DStv Premiership.”
