Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat has opened up about his injury and stated that it’s been a “difficult process to overcome his injury during his recovery process.
The Zimbabwean star has been out of action for a lengthy period of time with a groin injury which he sustained earlier during training this season.
Billiat has been sidelined and missed out on 18 games so far this season and has only made 11 appearances across all competitions.
The 32-year-old is relishing to chance to return to action and contribute to the team this season.
“How I got the injury? When we came back from the December break then I picked up a small knock during training and I thought it was one of those small little training knocks then I kept on training for a few days but the pain kept on growing.
“The team took me to a specialist and then I had a little fracture on the groin and then I had to go for an operation. Right now I am doing rehab and it all went well thank God.
“How I am mentally is difficult man but you got to be strong mentally and making sure you working towards becoming better, become strong and join the team.
“It’s not easy and training sometimes and when you watching the game you feel like you have to contribute and the only way you can do that is to pray for the guys, and speak to the guys before the game. Just involve yourself in the group because it might help one or two players if you speak to them and you know we need each other.
“So far I’ve been doing exercises to strengthen the area and now I’ve managed to start jogging outside. It has been a difficult process but I had to do things that I still feel the straining but it’s part of the process.
“I’ve managed to pass that and I’m able to job now which is a good sign and I’m looking forward to doing exercises that will let me join the team again.”
