Kaizer Chiefs claimed back to back wins in the DStv Premiership following their 2-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The home side produced the first real chance of the game in the 13th minute but Iqraam Rayners fired his effort over the bar.

Amakhosi nearly took the lead in the 21st minute after the ball almost went in off Given Msimango but Sage Stephens did well to make the save.

Chiefs had a scare of their own four minutes later after the ball sailed across the face of goal before Frosler touched the ball out for a corner.

Neither side were able to find the back of the net in the first half as the game went into the half-time break locked at 0-0.

Chiefs showed their intent early in the second half and broke the deadlock in the 51st minute after Pule Mmodi found the back of the net with a thunderous strike from outside the box.

Stellies had a chance to level matters in the 63rd minute but Petersen made a great diving save to deny the home side.

Molefi Ntseki made his first substitution of the game a minute later when he introduced Saile and Matlou for Potsane and Mdantsane before bringing on Zwane and Shabalala to replace Maart and Du Preez in the 76th minute.

Msimango should have doubled his side’s lead a minute later but the defender guided his header over the crossbar.

Amakhosi eventually doubled their lead with a minute left to play when Salie found the back of the net to seal the victory over Chiefs at Athlone Stadium.
