Kaizer Chiefs have revealed that star Khama Billiat was offered a new contract but the Zimbabwean international has not responded or returned to the squad in camp.
The 32-year-old has been on the books at Amakhosi since joining the club from Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018.
The Zimbabwean international has since gone on to feature 126 times while scoring 24 goals and assisting a further 29 goals in the process.
However, Billiat’s contract has expired at the end of June but Amakhosi confirmed that he was offered a new deal but the player has not responded or shown up for preseason training.
The Soweto giants have since released the following statement on the matter, which reads:
“Following the expiry of attacking midfielder Khama Billiat’s Kaizer Chiefs contract on 30 June 2023, the Club tabled a new offer for the Zimbabwean marksman to remain with Amakhosi. However, to date, the player has not responded to the offer or any attempts to contact him.”
“Billiat was last seen at the Kaizer Chiefs Village on 29 June and has not answered any of the calls made or messages sent to him by the Club.
“The team is currently in camp with all the players, yet Billiat, who is also expected to be there with his teammates, failed to show up and is currently nowhere to be found.”
