Chippa United have announced the signing of former Orlando Pirates star Luvuyo Memela following his departure from Richards Bay.

The 35-year-old joined the Chilli Boys as a free agent after parting ways with Richards Bay.

Memela will now rejoin the Easter Cape-based outfit after leaving the club 11 year’s ago during the 2011-12 season.

The attacker brings a wealth of experience having scored 32 goals and assisted a further 35 in 182 appearances across all competitions playing for the likes of Chippa United, Cape Town All Stars, Orlando Pirates, AmaZulu and Richards Bay.

Memela now becomes the club’s fourth signing behind Craig Martin, Augustine Mulenga, Menzi Ndwandwe and Kerwin Peters ahead of the 2023-24 season.

“Having enjoyed a successful stint at Orlando Pirates football club, Memela left an undeniable mark on both the team and passionate supporters. His exceptional skills, versatility and strong work ethic were evident throughout his tenure. Following his time at Orlando Pirates, Memela continued to excel at AmaZulu football club under the guidance of renowned coach Benni McCarthy, further solidifying his reputation as a top-class player.
