Kaizer Chiefs chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung will be inducted into the South African Hall of Fame on Thursday, November 9.
The club chairman’s induction into the Hall of Fame just adds to his honour list after he was presented with an honorary doctorate of social science by the University of Cape Town for his contribution to South African football last year.
“Dr. Kaizer Motaung, an iconic figure in South African sports history, has significantly shaped the landscape of football in the nation,” Motaung said.
“As the visionary founder and Chairman of the renowned Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, his influence reaches far beyond the field. With this induction, his extraordinary contributions will be permanently enshrined in the annals of the South African Hall of Fame.”
As a special partnership with the hospitality and entertainment group Tsogo Sun, the Chairman’s inauguration will take place at a gala dinner in a place that fits the importance of this momentous event.
An impressive group of people from the sports, entertainment, and government industries will gather to honour Dr. Motaung’s amazing accomplishments.
The South African Hall of Fame said that Dr. Motaung’s amazing legacy would be honoured for his “unwavering dedication, profound impact, and indelible mark on the sport” as well as for his important work as a world-class football player, manager, and businessman.
“Your nomination for this prestigious award is a testament to your enduring commitment and your ability to effect positive change in the lives of countless individuals through your remarkable work,” added the South African Hall of Fame when making the announcement.
Nelson Mandela, Gary Player, the 1995 and 2007 Springbok Rugby World Cup winning teams, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and Bafana Bafana’s 1995 African Nations Cup winning team are just a few of the people who have been inducted into the South African Hall of Fame.
Honouring a man whose legacy has gone beyond sports and become an important part of the country’s culture, this gala event promises to be an evening you’ll never forget.
It will be celebrated at the Soweto Derby on November 11, 2023, at FNB Stadium, where Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will play. The Chairman will also be inducted into the South African Hall of Fame.
