Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus says his side are ready to test themselves against “good teams” in Europe during their preseason camp in Marbella, Spain.
The 33-year-old played a crucial role in Pirates’ success last season as he contributed to nine goals including four goals and five assists in 25 appearances in all competition.
Erasmus also played an instrumental role in helping the Buccaneers secure a second place finish in the DStv Premiership standings and winning the MTN8 trophy as well as the Nedbank Cup.
The Port Elizabeth-born striker is now hoping his side can improve on last season they prepare for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
“We travelled more than half the day for the training camp for the season ahead and you know we here for work,” Erasmus told Pirates media.
“The first day has been good just to get a feel what the environment is like, air and the condition.
“It’s been good so far and training has been going well with a dew passing exercises. We’re looking forward to it.
“Coming to Europe for the first time as a South African team you know its a great experience not only for myself but for everybody included.
“It’s great we get to experience and play different teams from abroad and get to test ourselves and see how far we off or how close we are to getting to the next level.
“It’s all about improving and being constant throughout the season and that’s what we trying to build. We laid a good foundation last season and ended the season really well.
“This is a great base for us to continue growing.”
