Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Jody February says his main priority is to help the team succeed this season after making his first appearances for the Brazilians.
The 27-year-old joined Sundowns from Durban-based outfit AmaZulu on June 30, 2023.
He made his first appearance for the Brazilians in their 2-1 victory over Sekhukhune United after coming off the bench to replace the injured Denis Onyango in goal.
February says it’s was very “unfortunate” the way he made his first appearances and wishes his teammate a speedy recovery.
“I want to wish Denis (Onyango) a speedy recovery and it was just unfortunate how I came on but glory to God, I want to thank my family for always being there, the coaches for pushing me during training,” February told Sundowns TV.
“Funny enough this is my first appearance for the club, and its a very proud moment for myself and my family, hopefully there is many more to come and I’m happy we actually got the win today.
“The first five (minutes) my stomach was turning, I just needed a moment, a touch on the ball to get in the game but I think I done well coming on to the circumstances with the tempo of the game high.
“Luckily I made that save and from then on, it went to the far post but I waited as long as I could and he hit it near post and I was close enough to get a touch on the ball.
“Like I said to help the team is the most important.”
