SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has expressed his delight at signing Bafana Bafana defender Siyanda Xulu.
The 31-year-old joins United after he put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the option for another year.
He has previous experience playing for the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns, Rostov, Kaizer Chiefs, Maritzburg United, Hapoel Tel Aviv and most recently Turan-T IK.
Xulu now becomes SuperSport’s eighth signing behind Ronald Pfumbidzai, Phathutshedzo Nange, Washington Arubi, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Grant Margeman, Terrence Dzvukamanja and Abdulrazack Mohamed Hamza.
Hunt has since express his excitement of adding the experienced Xulu to his roster as they prepare for the 2023/24 season.
“I think he is someone who can fit in well in the club. He has a lot of experience. He wants to do it and I have known him for a very long time,” Hunt told his club’s official website.
“He can also help with the younger players that we’ve got. With Tyson and the other guys, we can try form a very good combination. He’s a big signing for us and I’m happy that he’s here.
“Football wise he’s a good player. He is tough, quick and a great defender. Good character as well, which is needed in that position. He’s number one in Bafana, which is a great signing for the club.”
