SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt felt his side were the better team in the Tshwane derby despite suffering a defeat at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Monday evening.
United fell to their second consecutive defeat in the DStv Premiership following their 1-0 defeat to rivals Sundowns after conceding a goal by Neo Maema in Pretoria.
Despite the defeat, SuperSport remain in their place on the league table with 27 points after 16 games, tailing log leaders Sundowns by 16 points.
Hunt felt his side should have made the most of their chances but also believes that the Brazilians were lucky to find the back of the net in a tough Tshwane derby battle.
“Ja, what you gotta say. I thought we were the better team…created the most chances, but you got to score against a team like this,” Hunt told SuperSport TV.
“We came here with the real patch-up team, you know a lot of players out…seven players out from the starting eleven and I got to commend the players.
“You know, we kept going, kept going. Ja, you got to put the ball in the net and obviously, they got a very lucky goal that tackled and bounced and it fell to the player so a bit unfortunate.
“But all in all, I thought we created the better chances. They can have the ball of course…complaining about it all day. We good, I can’t complain the players were unbelievable.”
