Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson has commented on the referee’s decision-making following their draw against AmaZulu in the DStv Premiership.
The Soweto giants are on a three-match winless run in the league following their 1-1 draw against Usuthu after Victor Letsoalo cancelled out Ashley Du Preez’s opener at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
The draw sees Amakhosi remain in eighth place in the league standings with 35 points after 28 games, while Usuthu are placed 12th on the log with 33 points from 28 matches so far this season.
Johnson was proud of his sides efforts to earn a point but bemoans the officiating throughout the match at the Moses mabhida Stadium on Sunday.
“Ja when you think about the game and the first thing you say is who’s the Man of the Match? And it’s the goalkeeper (Veli Mothwa), it shows you how much possession we had,” Johnson told SuperSport TV after the game.
“I thought we started the game probably not as nice as we would have liked to have but the breakaways we had we should have scored them and we get a goal again against us, I thought it was a free-kick beforehand and my players switched off, which is not normal, he gets a good cross in the box and we give away a cheap goal.
“I think also we (should have) got a penalty along the way after that and he does not give a penalty, he does not give a red card, so there’s a lot that we can take from that.
“The best one for me was towards the end, Ashley should have buried that, Mothwa is on the way. Second time (Christian) Saile comes, kicks the near post and he saves the game. I thought the boys put a big effort and I hope it looked better on TV and I’m sure we came out to win the game (but) we didn’t,” he concluded.
