Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson says he cannot fault his players as they “put in a good shift” against Chippa United in the DStv Premiership.

The Glamour Boys conceded back to back defeats in the league following their 2-0 defeat against the Chilli Boys at the Buffalo City Stadium in East London.

The Chilli Boys opened the scoring in the 21st minute through a Bienvenu Eva Nga header before Sinoxolo Kwayiba put the game beyond Amakhosi in the 32nd minute.

The defeat sees Amakhosi drop to eighth place on the log with 30 points after 23 games, while Chippa are placed 10th with 29 points from 23 matches.

Johnson was pleased with his side’s performance but bemoans their missed chances in the final third.

“We should have sealed the game in the first 20 minutes. We had three, four, five good opportunities. We were able to put them on the back foot, and then we conceded two very soft goals,” Johnson told his club’s official website.

“Having said that, we came back in the second half, chasing the game at 2-0 down, which is very difficult, but we spent about 80 per cent of the time in their half.

“However, we weren’t clinical enough in converting our chances goals.

“We lost the game but, at the same time, I cannot say I am unhappy with the team’s performance. Apart from giving away two silly goals, I felt the players put in a good shift.”
