Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson says his side will have to “live to work another day” following their defeat to champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Glamour Boys handed Sundowns their seventh straight DStv Premiership title after suffering a 5-1 hammering at the FNB Stadium on Thursday.
Mduduzi Shabalala scored the only goal for Amakhosi as they were undone through a brace by Tashreeq Matthews and goals from Matías Esquivel, Lucas Ribeiro Costa and Thembinkosi Lorch
Amakhosi now find themselves in eighth place in the league standings with 33 points after playing 26 games so far this season.
Despite the defeat, Johnson was pleased with his side’s performance but felt they forced the issue throughout the match.
“We thought he had done well, in all the moments after that, before half-time I thought he did very well,” Johnson told SuperSport TV after the game.
“Our back-four was very solid, except that later in the second-half they started dropping and that was the wrong thing to do because we were forcing them to go forward.
“They didn’t go forward but we have to live to work another day.”
