Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson says his side “have to get a lot done behind the scenes regarding the players” after finishing in their lowest-ever position in league history.
The Glamour Boys ended their campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Cape Town Spurs after conceding goals by Ashley Cupido and Michael Morton at the DHL Stadium on Saturday.
Amakhosi missed out on a top-eight spot in the DStv Premiership after finishing in 10th place with 36 points, having won nine games, drew nine and conceded 12 defeats during the 2023–24 season.
Johnson has since commented on his teams performance after finishing lower than they expected following their defeat on the final day.
“Very disappointed, in fact all I can say is well done to Cape Town Spurs, we made two mistakes and that’s it. We just did not show up at all,” Johnson told SuperSport TV after the game.
“We pushed, we tried to change, we made a few very good changes, gave the young ones (a chance)…We couldn’t hold on to the ball today and that’s it. We couldn’t make more than five passes.
“It’s the end of the season, there’s another season, hopefully in the next six, seven weeks time we gonna see how we fix it.'”
“It means we have to get a lot done behind the scenes regarding the players, technical staff, how we come together again to make sure we take the brand to another level.
“To make sure we compete in the next season.”
