AmaZulu coach Pablo Franco Martin was happy with his side’s performance despite suffering a defeat to Orlando Pirates in the DStv Premiership.

Usuthu were forced to endure a narrow 1-0 defeat to the Buccaneers after conceding a 75th minute goal through Tshegofatso Mabasa at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

The defeat leaves AmaZulu in 13th place in the DStv Premiership standings, with 28 points from 24 matches played so far this season.

Martin says he cannot fault his team’s performance despite conceding a loss away from home.

“Today I’m not going to be angry, I’m going to laugh because it’s a never ending story. But it’s a great feeling to compete against this team in this amazing scenario,” Martin told SuperSport TV after the game.

“Seeing how they are celebrating like they have won the World Cup, wasting time and only scoring when they were playing against nine men, when one player is on the ground you’re playing with one man up, not kicking the ball out but that also happened in the cup game.

“Even when we took the ball out because one of the players was on the ground, they took the ball from our goal-kick and they pressed from there.

“I think we started the game in an amazing way, we hammered them, we had chances to score, we hit the post, we played great football but again one unbelievable action, which changed the whole game and harmed us a lot.

“But from there surprisingly we’re controlling them very well, we got many chances, even in the second-half, until against nine (men), they took the advantage and they scored. We tried until the end but this is what we can do when we’re playing against everything and everyone all day.”
