Mamelodi Sundowns midfield maestro Tashreeq Matthews believes his side can maintain their unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership when they take on TS Galaxy on Tuesday.
The Brazilians will look to extend their unbeaten run to 53 games when they take on the Rockets at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
Sundowns come into this fixture after claiming a 1-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC thanks to a 66th-minute goal from
Lesiba Nku at Athlone Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Matthews, who scored four goals and registered one assist in 10 league appearances, believes his side can extend their record to 75 points.
“It is a great achievement but we have an opportunity to even go further and break it again. We have two games left and we can move from 72 to 75 points when we meet TS Galaxy,” Matthews told his club’s official website.
“Then we have the weekend game against Cape Town City where we can extend it to 78 points, so it feels good making history and breaking records as a team, but we have the opportunity to take it even further.
“We played against them not a long time ago and the scoreline was 3-0 of course, they will have more of the ball possession and at times they will go on to a low block where it will be a bit challenging for us to get through.
“We will find ways to get behind and in between the lines. We just have to make use of the opportunities to score.”
